The Owl and Pussycat Pre-school is a committee run Pre-School which follows the Pre-School Learning Alliance Constitution. The Pre-School is a Registered Charity. The Pre-School is registered with OFSTED - a copy of the most recent report is available on request.

The Pre-School is located in The Mobile Building Bapchild & Tonge C of E (Aided) Primary School which provides a safe, secure and bright environment for the children to learn and play. We are registered for 24 children per session, between the ages of 2 up to school age. There is a secure outdoor play area where the children can enjoy the natural environment.

The Pre-School is open during normal school term times only - these dates do vary and are published each September for the following academic year.

We offer:

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Guidance.

A high ratio of adults to children

Fun and friendship with children and adults
Opportunities for you and your family to be directly involved in the activities of the pre-school

A Key Person, which means each child has a member of staff assigned to them, this can help with settling in, for both parents and children, as they have a familiar person to speak to. They also will be reponsible for recording their progress in their own online journal.  If the Key Person is absent then the setting has a buddy system, currently Auntie Lucy and Auntie Donna are the settings Buddys.

Our Aim:

To enhance the development and education of children aged from 2 years up to School age

To provide a welcoming, safe, secure, caring and stimulating environment

To work within the Government’s Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, ensuring equal opportunities for every child

The children are able to choose from a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities including a role-play area, floor toys, arts & craft, writing area, table-top toys, book corner, construction area, counting/shape activities area as well as musical, sensory and physical activities and story time. They are encouraged to help tidy up and prepare the snack bar which provides a varied and healthy menu. They have a choice of milk or water to drink with their snack, and water is available at all times.

Safeguarding Children
Everyone involved in the care of children in our pre-school has a role to play in their protection.  We have a “duty of care” to take action on the child’s behalf by following our Safeguarding Children Policy.  Auntie Lucy is our Designated Safeguarding Lead, for Safeguarding Children and taking responsibility for ensuring all staff receive up to date training.

Special Needs
The Pre-School will endeavor to accommodate children’s special needs and work in close liaison with other agencies and professionals across the range of special needs.

If you would like to discuss the Pre-School’s ability to meet your child’s special needs, please talk to Auntie Lucy, or our Senco Auntie Naomi.
